One of the first major blogging platforms. Now owned by Google - which means it integrates very easily with Google Analytics with minimal fuss. Considered a bit "old school" by some, but still useful and good for beginners.

Word Press
Very popular open source blogging platform - highly customizable. Some companies use Word Press as the content management system for their main website. There are two options - using Wordpress.com (as a hosted service) or downloading the source code from Wordpress.org and installing on your own server space.

Tumblr
My 14 year old daughter loves this. User friendly interface. Frequently hacked since accounts allow you to create a blog post by sending an email to a blog-specific email address.
